Yay, just got home after a collective 13 hours at SMA. Considering people who stay at school until 10:30 at night, this isn't very impressive. Anyway, I love St. Mary's!

Having over three hours after school before the Father Daughter Dance Meeting at 6:30, I hung out with Stephanie J. for about two. I've grown to like her much better in the space of those two hours. We had initially had some drama because she borrowed one of my books and failed to give it back for about two weeks. My mother, becoming tired of the situation, phoned her mother and a heated a discussion ensued. It ended as well as any could. We eventually met her and her mother to recover the much-missed book. My mother got out of car, talking about the importance of returning what you borrow, etc. Meanwhile, I tried to make pleasant conversation with Stephanie and my father sat in the car and laughed.

After school, we both headed off to bother Ms. Nyland, sorting her papers and putting them into their appropriate files. While doing this, Stephanie told me about a guy, named James, whom she has been a friend with for at least three years. (I'm not quite sure how long.) He's also a geek and an avid Star Trek fan. I told her to ask him to specify which series he prefers. But if it's "Voyager"....

At 6:30, I went to the Father Daughter Dance meeting where we discussed possible themes for next year. (If anyone has an idea, let me know.) I had to leave at 7:00 and go to the TIES end of the year party. Unfortunately, my mentee, Olivia, never came. Apparently there was an accident on I-5. I can't deny that I'm disappointed however. This is the second time she's not come and failed to call me before hand. Oh well, that's all from me.

I hope everyone finishes the projects/papers that they need to on time. I have surprisingly little to do, which makes me very suspicious that I'm missing something important.

Well, it's certainly been awhile. I'm much surprised if anyone bothers to check this anymore.

The most exciting thing that has happened today was that Allie (sp?) and I were elected joint co-presidents of Sci-Fi Club for the 2004-2005 school year. Although I don't know her very well, she's always seemed to have an air of quiet and calm diligence, almost devotion. Working with Sarah will of course also be awesome, because even just being with Sarah is awesome.

So I'm sorry if hugging you in the hall today and saying, "I love you" was weird, but I'm too damn happy.

Last weekend I found out that I was indeed accepted as an exchange student to China for the 2004-2005 school year through the SYA program. They want their answer by Wednesday the 22nd and so this past week has been somewhat stressful while I've weighed the pros and cons of going. After thinking long and hard and having a talk with the academic counselor about the classes I would need to make up, I've decided not to go.  I would need to take four classes this summer outside of St. Mary's and two more my Senior year after I got back. I would probably need to do additional work as well because certain classes in China do not meet St. Mary's "standards". For example, additional work would need to be done in English because the English class that I'd take does not have a unit on American literature. The good news is that SYA has the option of allowing students to go the school year after graduating from high school and before beginning college. This seems to be the best option as I wouldn't have to worry about SMA's graduation requirements and could probably earn college credit while I'm there.

I've finally found an "inner-peace" with my decision instead of the doubt and turmoil that I've been experiencing when considering my options. I don't have to entirely give up this opportunity to learn Mandarin and I won't have to miss a year at SMA.

The only thing I left to say is that I finally did a triple pirouette in class tonight. For those of you who do not know what this is, I'm sorry but it's difficult to verbally explain ballet terminology. Even my fouettés are getting better. I might just do Lynn proud yet.

*Yawn* I had two quizzes today, math and chemistry. The chemistry quiz left me bawling. (Stupid me!) I studied what she recommended and it all blew up in my face. Oh well, I have an A in the class and it was just one quiz. I've also decided that if I could, I would have a breast reduction. It's almost considered inappropriate to have cleavage in a leotard.

Nothing more of importance here. Bye bye!

Here's the lowdown of Spring Break in chronological order.

1. Went shopping with Daena and bought a teabag holder shaped like a fish.

2. Went to a Star Trek Marathon at the lovely Christine's house and watched countless episodes of Voyager. Fell asleep around 2:30am while watching The Wrath of Khan.

3. Went to rehearsal for three hours.

4. Tech and dress rehearsal. Went out to lunch with Patty and Level 5 homies.

5. Opening night! Arrived at Winningstad Theatre around 5:00, went to warm-up at 5:30 for an hour, going back to the dressing room to put on makeup and curl hair. Fake eyelashes are awesome!

6. Arrived at theatre at 11:30am went to warm-up, followed by hair and make-up. Performance sucked. Afterwards Patty conveyed her displeasure. Most of it was aimed at Casey who kept forgetting random parts of the dance and was generally unfocused. Went out to roam the streets of Portland with Erin. Megan and Grayce ditched us in favor of Max. (Or was it Mark?) Max/Mark appeared to be your average pimply teenage guy with equally oily chin-length blond hair. My fellow pseudo-hooker and I first went to Baskin Robbins, ordering smoothies. It was then on to Subway where I got a sandwich. Erin was deterred from getting one when her favorite "Steak and Cheese" sandwich was not on the menu. I pointed out that there was also a "Cheese Steak" sandwich but it apparently wasn't the same. Walking a total of ten steps, we soon arrived at McDonald's. Erin ordered two cheeseburgers and a large side of fries. After getting lost for a half hour we eventually made our way back to the Portland Center for Performing Arts. We had our last performance soon afterward and Patty admitted that it was "better" than that afternoon's. My godmother, Beverly also drove down from Seattle and spent the night with us.
